For example our commercial tumble dryer the T30 30Lb (13.6Kg) S.A.F.E gas heated tumble dryer has a heat input of 16.1Kw (55,000Btu), that’s a saving of 20,000Btu to our nearest rival! The T range also comes with RMC (residual moisture control), as standard. Tumble Dryers
The present range of washing machines have helped in the development of the tumble dryer as ever faster spinning cycles of the washing machine can now be used due to improvements in the bearing and support methods. These machines are such that the items exit the washer only mildly damp. This has reduced the time and energy requirements for the tumble dryer and it is well worthwhile examining the complete package to reduce the running costs of the laundry to the barest minimum.
There have been consistently good improvements on the drying system caused by the type of tumble, so that the goods are continually moved so that the heat gets through the entire load. The speed of the spin and the way the heat is input (whether it is gas or electric) into the items is very important and the developments have reduced time and energy usage. It is estimated that the latest machines are at least 30% cheaper to run than the conventional models of tumble dryers. The development of detectors that measure water presence now indicate that the washing is dry when the level gets down to near zero. This has reduced time and energy used as they are linked into the process and switch off the machine when the load is ready for removal.
The drums are very long lasting being made of stainless steel and the bearings work well, this is helped by a reversing drum cycle which of course has been developed to spread out the clothes or other items. One of the major improvements has come from the development of an anti-crease cycle at the end of the process which means that the ironing work is now much reduced from the old style tumble dryers.
The question that will have to be examined in the near future is whether in the long run the washing machine developments will be such that the water remaining in the items washed will be low enough for the washing to just go straight into the ironing room. The latest machines are using less and less water and continual experiments are proceeding and claims have been made that waterless machines can be made. Whilst this is unlikely in the short term it is certain that the amount of liquid used will reduce rapidly over the next few years and the tumble dryer may well be under considerable pressure but for the present the latest tumble dryers have vastly improved.
